What’s Next for North County Credit Union Members?

We are excited to announce that Cabrillo Credit Union and North County Credit Union will officially merge on February 1, 2025. This partnership reflects our shared commitment to enhancing your banking experience while expanding our reach across San Diego County. Here’s what you can expect:

 

Immediate Changes

Starting February 1, 2025:

  • Branch Signage and Branding: North County Credit Union locations will reflect Cabrillo Credit Union branding. Look for updated signage, email communications, and business materials highlighting “North County Credit Union, a division of Cabrillo Credit Union.”

  • Same Service, Same Staff: You will continue to be served by the same friendly, knowledgeable employees you trust, at the same branch locations.

  • Account Access Remains the Same: Members of Cabrillo Credit Union and North County Credit Union will continue to use their current systems for online banking, mobile apps, and branch transactions as normal.

 

Integration of Banking Systems

We will be working diligently to integrate our banking systems, ensuring a smooth transition for all members. This process is expected to take time, with the goal of full system integration in the near future.

  • Comprehensive Member Support Guide: As the integration nears, you will receive a detailed guide explaining any updates to your accounts, key dates, and everything you need to know.

  • Account Access Across Branches: While the systems are being integrated, you will not yet be able to transact between Cabrillo Credit Union and North County Credit Union accounts directly. However, Co-op Network ATMs will allow transactions at all shared locations.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Will the name change?
Yes. North County Credit Union will now be known as North County Credit Union, a division of Cabrillo Credit Union. Over time, all branding and signage will reflect this name while still maintaining the excellent service and experience members trust.

Will branches remain open?
Yes. All North County Credit Union branches will remain open, and no closures are planned as part of this merger.

Will any employees lose their jobs due to the merger?
No. All employees will retain their positions and continue to serve members with the same dedication and expertise.

What is the legal merger date?
The legal merger date is February 1, 2025.

Who will lead the combined organization?
Kevin Posey, CEO of Cabrillo Credit Union, will lead the combined organization.
 
Access and Account Information

Will I still be able to access my accounts at North County Credit Union locations?
Yes. For now, you will continue to access your accounts as you always have at North County Credit Union branches, online banking, or mobile apps.

Can I use Cabrillo Credit Union branches to access my North County accounts?
Not immediately. Integration of systems will take some time. Members will be informed when account access is unified across all branch locations.

Will my account numbers or routing numbers change?
No changes to account or routing numbers are planned at this time. Any changes will be communicated well in advance.

Can I use ATMs at both credit unions without fees?
Yes. As part of the merger, members will have access to the Co-op Network, which allows surcharge-free ATM access at both Cabrillo and North County Credit Union locations.

Will my Online Banking and Mobile Banking apps change?
Not immediately. You will continue to use your current platforms until the systems are integrated. We’ll notify you of any updates well ahead of time.
 
 

Loans, Rates, and Insurance

Will there be changes to my loans or credit cards?
No immediate changes will occur. Any updates will be communicated with plenty of notice to ensure a smooth transition.

Will the merger affect my NCUA insurance coverage?
No. All accounts remain federally insured by the NCUA up to $250,000 per account holder.

Will my rates change?
Rates for fixed-rate loans and certificates will remain the same until the end of their terms. Other rates may adjust based on market conditions, as usual.

 

Future Plans

When will systems be fully integrated?
We aim to complete system integration within the next year. Updates on progress and timelines will be shared regularly.

Will there be new products or services?
Yes. Once systems are integrated, members will have access to a broader range of products and services from both organizations.

Where will the combined organization’s headquarters be located?
The headquarters for the combined credit union will remain in San Diego, the current headquarters of Cabrillo Credit Union.

Will branch hours change?
No immediate changes to branch hours are planned. If any adjustments are made, members will be informed in advance.

How will I stay updated?
We will provide regular updates via email, our website, and in branches. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us directly.
